Carvoeiro is a small town located about 10 kilometers from Portimão. Its history tells that fishing was once the main economy of this village. Nowadays, tourism is the fundamental engine of this locality, where we can find one of the ten best beaches in Europe, Praia da Marinha. The Carvoeiro footbridge, starting at the Fort of Nossa Senhora da Encarnação, extends to Algar Seco and shows natural sculptures in the rocks with breathtaking landscapes.
The Route of the Seven Hanging Valleys gives the possibility to know, for 5.6 kilometers, the cliffs between Praia de Vale Centianes and Praia da Marinha. Along this route, there are almost two dozen information panels, registering points of interest and explaining the origins of this tour.
A visit not to be missed is the Benagil beach, located at the base of the village of Benagil. This is the gateway to one of the wonders of the area - the caves of Benagil, with its large natural skylight through which the warm sunlight of the Algarve enters and illuminates the small beach inside the cave.
Finally, we recommend that you "take a little trip" to the Alfanzina Lighthouse, where you can once again delight in the beautiful views over the sea.
