Burgau

The Algarve is a place full of surprises and influences from around the world. Behold, we also have a small sample of Greece in the Burgau area: Portuguese Santorini. Painted slopes of white houses, bathed and heated by the Algarve sea and sun. The small Praia do Burgau, surrounded by the hills that protect it from strong winds from the Barlavento and the various fishing boats, show what was once the main activity in the area: fishing. Burgau is just over 30 minutes from Portimão. On the way, stop in Lagos to visit Ponta da Piedade with its cliffs and beautiful landscapes. Also visit Salema, which portrays his connection with the fishing gear very well. Take a short trip to its ruins of a Roman “villa”, where the long fishing tradition transpires. If you have the opportunity to observe the beaches and their rocks, you will surely find some dinosaur footprints, which takes our imagination to walk through the Cretaceous Period, when the Earth was dominated by these giants.
